O2 website crashes under 3G iPhone demand

Filed Under: Internet, Mobile    by: Ritesh

O2 is the sole network on which the iPhone is available in the UK. O2 said that the initial order of new iPhones had been split roughly in half between pre-orders, which can only be made online, and stores, which will begin selling the device on Friday.

O2 started the pre-orders at 8am on 7th July. Around 2,00,000 people had already pre-ordered their iPhone online, but as more and more people started getting online - the O2 website crashed. It couldnt take the load of so many users simultaneously tryign to pre-register their iphone.

Now, this is the impact the iPhone already has :)
