I recently landed up changing my Vodafone plan via Global Direct. I had to take an extra sim card through them, but the plan they were offering was very tempting.

I am currently on a group plan with 10 members and intra-calling is totally free. I make a lot of quick STD calls, most of them being under a minute, so paying by the second would surely help me. The plan that they offered was:

Airtel-Broadband The market is fierce and there are a lot of broadband players, but my ever favorite is ‘Airtel’. When I moved to my new place, I initially applied for the MTNL broadband (coz Airtel wasn’t available in the area), but believe me or not, they took over 1 month to get the broadband activated. The next thing I knew was I was on the phone with Airtel asking them why they don’t service my area, and within 2 days I had the Internet activated.

How often has it happened to you that you dial Vodafone’s hotline number ’111′ and you are kept on hold. Though their response time has become much better now, but I distinctly remember being put on hold even if it meant I called at an earthy hour of say 3am.

videocon Videocon recently launched their GSM services in Mumbai, though I am yet to find a shop that sells their Sim cards.

Being a new entrant, they have adopted a very aggressive marketing strategy. You see a lot of ads on the BEST buses that read "Pakdo life ka har signal". Initially I thought they had only launched their cell phones, but they seem to have got into the telecom sector as well. Videcon has already started their services in Tamilnadu, Mumbai, Gujarat and Haryana.

Vodafone doesnt have any unlimited plans for the iPhone, and uptil now, there were no unlimited plans for the regular GPRS too. Finally, better sense prevailed, and Vodafone has come out with an unlimited GPRS plan (fair usage policy: 1GB/ month)
